Baldur's Gate 3
In a surprising nod to Haurchefant, in Act 2 of the popular videogame Baldur's Gate 3, you can obtain the Inspiration "A Smile Better Suits...", which is applicable to a character with the Folk Hero background,"You're a champion of the common people, challenging tyrants and monsters to protect the helpless. Saving innocents in imminent danger will make your legend grow."
You meet Alfira at the Last Light Inn and she is surprised to see a familiar face. She and her tiefling friends and families were ambushed by cultists, leaving many dead or kidnapped. The lucky few who escaped eventually made their way to the Last Light Inn.
This Inspiration can be obtained by accepting Alfira's wishes to help find and rescue her captured friends and families. A hopeful response in her darkest hour of need.
In my own playthrough of Baldur's Gate 3, I did obtain this Inspiration for Wyll, who has a Folk Hero character background! It was nice to see a tribute to Haurchefant and Final Fantasy XIV in a completely unrelated game. I have not touched my Baldur's Gate 3 gameplay since April 2025 and revisiting the game scenes for this section brought me some nice memories. 220 hours in and I still have to beat Act 3... I am on the last boss!
